Is the End Near? I Hope So!

Well, it is almost mid-February, which means spring is right around the corner. For me, it cannot get here fast enough.

I am really tired of the cold. I am over feeling as if I am cooped up inside because it is too chilly to stay outside longer than five minutes. As I said before, I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather.

Again, I understand if my northern readers want to grab me by the neck and choke me. We have no snow, our temperatures are very mild, the weather is mainly moderate, and we really have nothing for which to complain. This does not nullify the fact that I truly am the world’s greatest wimp whenever the temperature falls below 69 degrees.

The opposite of this, of course, are those who complain it is too hot in the summer. For me, it is never too hot or too humid. I have no problems with temperatures in excess of 95 degrees. However, I do have a very low tolerance for cold.

I don’t know how many times I have heard, “You just dress for the cold. Just put on more layers.” I don’t want to put on more layers, I find it very confining and constricting.

There is also the situation Ralphie’s little brother in the movie “A Christmas Story” faced after his mother finished layering on all his winter clothes. When she completed the task, the next thing out of the little boy’s mouth was, “I gotta go.”

Today is going to be a beautiful day for Central Florida. We are going to a fly-in down near the Ocala area. The forecast is for northerly winds at less than 10 knots with a high temperature of 63 degrees and clear skies. It will be perfect weather for a flying get together.

I can’t wait to introduce our little grandson to real airplanes and see my friends again. And of course, the day is perfect for photography. If you find yourself in the area, come over and say hi. I will be easy to recognize. I will be the one completely covered in about seven layers of sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, flight jackets, and a blanket just for good measure.

That might be able to keep me warm enough. See ya at the fly-in.

I hear you on the cold. I’ve had enough. We are ditching the cold and heading your way next weekend. I will be our first trip to Florida. Hope to enjoy some of that warm weather you all boast about down there. Wish I was there for the fly-in today that would have been awesome. Your grandson will love it!
