{"id":849,"date":"2010-10-18T04:00:42","date_gmt":"2010-10-18T08:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joeclarksblog.wordpress.com\/?p=849"},"modified":"2010-10-18T04:00:42","modified_gmt":"2010-10-18T08:00:42","slug":"clark%e2%80%99s-kitty-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joeclarksblog.com\/?p=849","title":{"rendered":"Clark\u2019s Kitty Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few days, we had the privilege of looking after \u201cHope\u201d and \u201cChance.\u201d \u00a0Hope and Chance are a couple of cats who were literally running out of all hope and had very little chance of living much past the age of two.\u00a0 Until Miss Robin and her husband Mr. Mike found and saved them.<\/p>\n<p>Before they acquired \u201cthe boys,\u201d Mike and Robin were possessed (none of us ever really owns a cat) by one of the coolest cats I ever met.\u00a0 Unfortunately, \u201cFelix\u201d passed far too soon; he was still a young cat.\u00a0 For the longest time, a cat did not pick Mike and Robin.\u00a0 They stayed catless for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Finally it became time for the two of them to be \u201cchosen\u201d by a feline again.\u00a0 Robin believed they should be the proud parents of a calico kitten who was telepathically calling to them by name.<\/p>\n<p>When she went to the pet store to save some little calico cat, she accidentally \u201cdiscovered\u201d the boys.\u00a0 They were litter mates who had outgrown their cuteness.\u00a0 They stayed together in the same cage, never having the opportunity to run, jump, and play the way kittens should play.\u00a0 In the end, when Robin was supposed to go pick up the cute calico kitten, she chose the older brother cats instead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mike and Robin named the cats Hope and Chance in reference to the two felines avoiding euthanasia at the last possible moment.\u00a0 When my wife fed them, she came up with another theory for their respective names.\u00a0 As she put it, \u201cWhen I put food in one dish, Hope was hoping to get something to eat and Chance was basically saying, \u2018Fat chance.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the time I have known the boys, they have provided some hilarity for the entertainment of many.\u00a0 One such time was when Mike\u2019s company sent him to an important meeting up north.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A co-worker picked Mike up about 5 a.m. and the two would then catch an early flight out of Orlando.\u00a0 Mike had the alarm set for about 4 a.m. and one of boys was sleeping near his head.<\/p>\n<p>When the alarm went off, it scared the cat into flight and in the process of escaping the alarm, the cat opened the side of Mike&#8217;s face from his ear to the bottom of his chin.\u00a0 He looked like a pirate.\u00a0 \u201cArrgh!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When his co-worker saw the side of Mike\u2019s face, he said, \u201cRobin mad at you again?\u201d \u00a0Then there were the innumerable questions and answers for the TSA and other airport security screeners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the conference, one of the other attendees just looked at Mike\u2019s face and asked, \u201cGot a cat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArrgh,\u201d Mike said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">-30-<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a9 2010 J.
