<\/a>Hey! Where's the meeting?<\/p><\/div>\n
She points to the windows leading into the backyard and there, as stately as they can, are wild turkeys marching across the backyard at the edge of the woods. \u00a0The week before Thanksgiving!\u00a0 Are these birds insane?<\/p>\n
Did these birds miss the NOTAM, or what?\u00a0 Don\u2019t they realize this is the week they should make themselves very scarce?\u00a0 As I am having these thoughts, I also think about my shotgun. \u00a0I am almost convinced I should go get it, when I realize the only shells I have are buckshot. \u00a0Ah, there’s probably an ordinance or something about shooting wild turkeys in a residential\u00a0neighborhood\u00a0anyway.<\/p>\n
<\/a>These conventions are all so confusing. Which way did they say to go?<\/p><\/div>\n
Hummmh\u2026<\/p>\n
Not going to work.<\/p>\n
Then I think of my Canon.<\/p>\n
I take a couple of shots through the window and then recognize the need to get outside with the birds to get a good shot. I slowly slide the door open and step out\u00a0on\u00a0the patio. \u00a0Quietly, I stalk my prey\u2026<\/p>\n
They are wary, but still slowly walk by.\u00a0 Has no one explained to these birds the importance of this week?\u00a0 Do they not understand many in America have invited them to dinner?\u00a0 Do they know they are dinner?<\/p>\n
They go over to the next-door neighbor\u2019s for their convention.\u00a0 I think they want to play beach ball bingo, or maybe they are confused about the purposes of beach balls in a residential neighborhood.<\/p>\n
It is about this time they discover me watching and shooting.\u00a0 They can hear the sound of the shutter going off.\u00a0 I hear one of them say, Oops!\u00a0 Gotta go!\u00a0 Then they come running by me in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
I think they should have gone the other way to avoid passing me by, but then I comprehend the direction of the wind.\u00a0 All pilots and birds will accomplish all takeoffs and landings into the wind\u2026<\/p>\n
Hey!\u00a0 Turkeys!\u00a0 Want to come to dinner on Thursday?<\/p>\n
